About
I am a self-taught figurative painter working in oil and acrylic. My work explores states of emotional complexity and psychological ambiguity, using the figure and the constructed scene as vehicles for narratives that are deliberately open-ended. I am drawn to the space between what is revealed and what remains unknowable—to the tension between a moment we can see and a story we can only imagine.
I find particular pleasure in setting the stage and creating the characters. There is something instinctive about the human impulse to construct narratives, to search for connections and meaning within the fragments of experience. Painting allows me to engage that impulse while leaving room for uncertainty and interpretation.
For me, painting is a form of silent storytelling. It is an act of constructing a world, inhabiting it briefly, and then releasing it to the viewer. I think of this as standing in what Robert Smithson called the “Solitary Kingdom”—a place of isolation and imagination from which I can narrate stories without words, leaving the viewer to complete them.
